Welcome to Blyth Bros –  Australia’s largest Daffodil and Tazetta grower

The Blyth family are Australia’s largest daffodil producers, growing over 100 different varieties of daffodils on 350 hectares of rolling picturesque West Gippsland countryside in Ellinbank, Victoria.

The cold climate of Ellinbank is ideal for growing daffodils with its rich and fertile volcanic soil and plentiful rainfall. We grow the highest quality daffodils in Australia and our flowers are picked from June right through until the Spring.

Our packing lines produce daffodils to exact customer specifications with around 1 million bunches distributed and sold each year to markets in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.

We harvest and process over 500 tonnes of premium quality bulbs annually. Bulbs are available from Mid-January to March and are sold to various retail and mail order companies who pre-package for home gardeners Australia-wide. We also supply bulbs for export markets

Blyth Bros History

The business of Blyth Bros. was started in 1945 by Dan and Jock Blyth. Both brothers were builders who had experienced first-hand the shocking times of the Great Depression while living in Melbourne in the 1930’s.

Growing Information

Daffodils are very adaptable and can be grown in almost any garden situation. They prefer full sun during Winter but will tolerate partial shade for part of the day. Daffodils can be grown in pots, rock gardens, naturalised along driveways, in lawns or clumped under deciduous trees. They can be left undisturbed for several years and grow best in cool climates with adequate rainfall and good drainage.
